Ripley's Museum By the Alamo

What better way to pay homage to the Alamo than to construct a Ripley's Believe it or Not right next to it? 

Visitors to the historic site will no doubt notice some 'newer' developments- a Ripley's Believe it or Not and a 'Tomb Rider' attraction directly adjacent to the historical landmark.  If you aim your camera just right, you can catch both attractions in your photo of the Alamo monument.

Classy.

Look carefully for the tourist trap on the right hand side...

Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Art Museum, San Antonio

Who doesn't want to celebrate toilet seat art?  Barney Smith had inaugurated a museum of his own toilet seat art, which is comprised of more than 1,000 of these beauties. Originally a plumber, Smith began his endeavor when he decided he needed to mount a set of deer antlers. Ever since, he has been using donated wooden toilet seats to create his unique works of art.  There is even a September 11 memorial toilet seat.

Museum hours vary and can be confirmed by calling ahead.

Stonehenge II - Ingram TX

Constructed in 1989 by Al Sheppard of Kerrville, TX, Stonehenge II is a roughly 3/4 size replica of the real thing on the Salisbury Plains of England.

Unlike the real Stonehenge, Stonehenge II is made of plaster and mesh and was created in the middle of Sheppard's pasture.  Recently moved to the Hill Country Center for the Arts in Ingram, TX, Stonehenge II was filled with graffiti-covered theater equipment when the authors recently visited it in August.   Also present are 2 replica Moai (stone heads) from Easter Island, also created by Sheppard.
